Biography of Roman Troyer
Roman Troyer has been in the overhead door and access systems industry since 2010, with an additional 2 years’ experience as an installer in the mid-90’s. He owned and operated a garage door dealership in NC until he joined SOMMER USA in 2018, where he currently serves as VP of sales. He has also been serving on the board of the Institute for Door Dealer Education and Accreditation since 2020 and sits on the education committee and the Door Operator and Electronics division of DASMA.

Roman’s wide experience has given him plenty of opportunity for networking with both the manufacturer side and the dealer side of the industry. Building connections between people is one of the things he enjoys most, which proved useful when he joined Vertical Lift Outreach in 2019, where he currently serves as secretary and treasurer. He is passionate about bringing help to people who are in need, and has had five years’ previous experience serving with non-profit entities in Honduras between 2001 and 2006.
Roman has been married to his wife, Mimi, since 2012, and together they have three kids—Hudson, Elliot, and Gladys. You may hear up to five languages spoken in their household, and as a result, the family’s favorite pastimes are languages and travel, and they look forward to expanding this experience as the kids grow older. Roman is also an amateur linguist and a bit of a literature aficionado—his favorite writers include the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and George MacDonald.

Roman is excited about the opportunity to create community by offering assistance to people in his industry who are in need through Vertical Lift Outreach. He is a firm believer that the wheels of the world are turned by the hands of the small, and that the smallest act of kindness or generosity has the potential to reach the ends of the earth in ripple effects. He is grateful to be part of VLO and looks forward to expanding the mission of giving back within the industry and beyond.
